Holography depicts the entire light field emitted by an object, which not only means that the image acquires a natural depth but also that reflections are depicted much more faithfully than in photography. When you see a holographic portrait, for example, you can observe that the radiance in the depicted person’s eyes and hair moves in a natural way when you move in front of the hologram. This is one of the features that contributes to the superior realism one gets in a hologram. At the same time, holography offers fantastic opportunities for artists who want to create abstract images through this ability to capture the “game” of light. When we look at the image in a hologram, it is actually the light that the hologram reflects that we see. This light originally comes from a halogen spotlight that has been hung up specifically to illuminate the hologram.
